Having received a bachelor’s degree in history from Texas A&M University, Samuel R. Gammon III '44 created the Gammon Family Endowment in History to support transformational teaching and innovative research in the department. The gift was made to honor the memory of both his father and older brother.

Dr. David Chapman '67 believes the key to being a good historian is curiosity, a quality he hopes to see in the recipients of the endowed Dr. David L. Chapman ‘67 Graduate Fellowship. Chapman established the fellowship to benefit graduate students in the History Department.

Jack Benson '63 and his wife, Carol, have together established the Carol A. and Jack L. Benson Study Abroad Scholarship to help Liberal Arts students travel internationally to interact with people of different cultures and perspectives. This gift will have a significant impact as the College of Liberal Arts is a leader in study abroad at Texas A&M, sending between 800 and 900 students to other countries every year.
